New York Magazine: interesting cover story

One thing you can say for this magazine is that its covers never fail to surprise.

Here is a cover concept we like.

The cover story is a timely one: getting professional counseling via your friendly phone, one bit of text at a time. New York Magazine’s March 29-April 11, 2021 issue, features writer Molly Fischer reports on the world of therapy apps, looking at how the overwhelming demand for professional counseling drove slickly marketed companies to promise services they cannot possibly provide

In their own words:

“In New York Magazine’s March 29-April 11, 2021 issue, features writer Molly Fischer reports on the world of therapy apps, looking at how the overwhelming demand for professional counseling drove slickly marketed companies to promise services they cannot possibly provide. At a time when tech companies are having trouble cultivating a sense of trust with their consumers, therapy apps are no different, in part because of the discrepancy between the service apps are selling versus the service consumers are receiving.”

It is interesting that the text on that blue chat bubble on the cover is real, with a “patient” telling of his/her problems to a listening counselor. Th concept is well thought out and the writing on that cover block tends to be humorous:

…I am stuck in my apartment hating my Zoom face walking in circles like miss havisham in sweatpants and starting awake at 4 am hearing sirens–cops gone crazier and ambulances carrying the people with probably some next level variant. U ever get intubation night terrors. And what if I have smoked so much pot in lockdown I now have scarred up my lungs isn’t that a fauxmorbidity? I sometimes think I cld get a dog, but the adoption people ask too many questions……
