In what I think is the Best of Show, Massimo Gentile, of Il Secolo XIX, Genoa, Italy, has taken his poster idea to a double page as published in the newspaper editions today. Great concept, and a wonderful tribute to Whitney Houston

The death of mega pop star Whitney Houston shocked everyone this weekend.
Ever since Saturday afternoon, when she was found dead in her Beverly Hilton Hotel room, radio and TV stations have constantly played her unforgettable music.
The tributes are pouring in and here are some noteworthy samples of how her death has been reported.
I begin with these images from Massimo Gentile, design director of Italy’s Il Secolo XIX, who does very creative work using typography to portray famous people.
Then you will see front pages doing a variety of treatments for the coverage of Whitney’s death: some play the news up in their promo boxes, others give it lead story treatment, and even The New York Times played it on its front page, a reminder of the pop star’s influence and popularity.
As I am posting the Monday blog in Miami, before flying towards Frankfurt/Dubai, Sunday afternoon, I know that European and Asian newspapers will cover the news and I would love to get jpegs of your best pages sent to me via email: mario@garcia-media.com. Look forward to your sample pages.
