We are still in the Pink

TAKEAWAY: This week we asked the question: could PINK be the next black? Well, perhaps the answer is YES. Plus: feeling the pinch of the recession when your favorite newspaper read is not on board!

Designers turn to pink

This week we posted an entry about color diva Pegie Stark Adam and her radio interview in Canada, in a program totally devoted to the color pink.

Pegie Stark Adam thinks about what pink means to her

Now, The New York Times’ Magazine goes pink for its main fashion feature of this week. Designers from Dior to Louis Vouitton, Adam Kepler writes, turn to pink “to embrace the once-derided hue for every piece of the male ensemble, from suit jackets to footwear. ….Think pink for men.”
Then, this week, the news from Mexico: the unusual story of a 10-year-old matador, Michelito, who killed six bulls while adorned in PINK, with a pink “ole’!” blanket to entice the bulls. Arriba Michelito!

Why USA Today?

It is part of my routine when I board a Lufthansa flight, which is often. I get me a copy of USA Today and I know that, no matter where in the world I am, I will be able to get the news from home, a great Life section (my favorite), and such weekly columns as Craig Wilson’s Final Word, and, of course, Alan Neuharth’s op ed page comments, which are usully right on the money. So, what a surprise, yesterday to board a Lufthansa flight, and NO USA Today editions on board. The purser of the flight gave me the bad news: We no longer have USA Today on board, sir. Nor in any of the Lufthansa lounges.

Could this be part of the never ending recession news? The purser was not ready to say, and neither was the HON Circle Lounge hostess. But I imagine it could be this.

Maybe someone from Lufthansa will let us passengers know. Here is something I will miss more than if they take a little tomato from the salads, or even linens from the tray.
