There is a tablet in your future

TAKEAWAY: Very soon all of us will be involved in the creation of templates and the overall exploration of “the tablet” as the vessel on which to extend our storytelling. After years of tryouts, some dating back two decades or more, the prospect of a functional tablet that could become the user’s constant companion for all types of information receiving is almost here.

Prepare for the tablet

Well, not even two weeks into 2010 but if I had one of those peach-colored 50-euro bills for everytime I have heard the word “tablet” mentioned, I could probably stop working by the end of the month and sit under a palm tree at my condo in Belleair Beach, Florida.

The tablet and Avatar the movie, the two constants of 2010 so far. Hopefully, the tablet will do financially for our industry what Avatar has done for its makers.

The tablet is the buzz.

It is the subject of conversation at every meeting. In fact, it is the “preamble” to whatever a meeting is about, somehow the tablet surfaces, a video is shown, everyone loves it, and everyone wishes to be the first to introduce it in his market.

Yet, nobody has seen it. The videos that populate the Internet give us a glimpse: the tablet looks like an iPhone that suddenly had a growth spur. It is the familiarity to all of us who have an iPhone that makes it so intriguingly desirable.

From what I have gathered, this may be the one tool that will take us the next step as we find better and more efficient ways to practice our craft.

Mario Garcia Jr. has written about the tablet furor in his blog, and here is a link to it:
