We hear much about “attracting the young”, although that reference is usually to members of the audience in their 20s and even early 30a, those who don’t remember life without Google.
In this case, The Week magazine redefines “attracting the young” to reach out to kids ages 8 to 14.
Dennis Publishing, the company behind the UK’s most trusted weekly news magazine, The Week, has announced that it will be launching a weekly news magazine for children — The Week Junior —one that has been a big success in the UK. The magazine will be the first news weekly print magazine in the United States since The Week launched in 2001.
The Week Junior’s formula is one of presenting current events in a fun, easy to read manner. Every week, editors select stories of interest and bring them to their young audience, with the added benefit of helping the kids improve their reading, come in contact with honest news reporting and developing critical thinking skills.
As a grandfather of kids in that age group, I hope I can introduce them to The Week Junior.
The Week Junior will launch in spring 2020. Costing $75 for a one-year subscription of 48 issues, the magazine will arrive in subscribers’ mailboxes every week starting in March. Parents and teachers can subscribe to The Week Junior at theweekjunior.com.
As a grandfather of kids in that age group, I hope I can bring them to The Week Junior.
