Perhaps we cannot call it linear storytelling, as the user is not scrolling, but, in this case, swiping to advance the story on the screen. Yet, it is effective and allows for the reader to get a historical perspective of the US-North Korea relations now that President Trump has accepted an invitation from leader Kim Jong Un for direct talks.
In this example, The Post mixes visual images with text. Sometimes the text is superimposed over the images, sometimes the image dominates, with short texts, but the text of the story flows naturally, and it is easy to advance the story by just swapping on to the next screen.
I personally would have preferred for this story to flow in a linear way, with scrolling rather than swapping, but it is clear that for visual storytelling either strategy works.
