This image is the cover of a special coronavirus supplemented published recently by the Minneapolis Star Tribune. My good friend, Nuri Ducassi, designed and executed this beautiful and effective page.
Here are a couple of inside pages from that supplement in the Star Tribune:
I wanted Nuri to explain the process for the creation and production of this supplement, knowing that most staffers are working from home.
Here is how Nuri explained it:
We started to talk about this report back in Minneapolis two weeks ago. I worked with the Health&Science editor all the time so we have wonderful communication.
When we were sent home to work I started the cover illustration from my laptop in my tiny studio apt. in Minneapolis. Then I had to dart back to Florida and finish the work from here.
I did the rest of the b/w pieces from Florida in a single day. The collaboration with the HS editor was crucial because it was just the two of us. Ambition is the engine and mother of invention, not necesity!
We can’t stop been creatively ambitious in a crisis. We can’t succumb to mediocrity. Just conform and give in.
I always aim high, and then find a way.
You certainly always do, Nuri. And the audience appreciates it, especially at this time.
I would like to show your work here. If you and/or your organization has done some top of the line work to illustrate the coronavirus, please send it to me at my email: mario@garciamedia.com.
Talent and creativity are not staying home, as this design shows. Send me yours.
Thanks in advance!
