That was a fun launch party for The Story

Thankful to Tyler Brulé and Monocle for hosting this great launch party for The Story in Zurich.

Here with Tyler Brulé, CEO/Publisher, Monocle during book launch interview that will air on Monocle 24 Radio Saturday.

My mobile storytelling book, The Story, was officially launched in Europe at a party sponsored by Monocle in Zurich Wednesday evening.

The format for the launch event was inside the radio studio for Monocle 24 Radio, with Tyler Bruléhimself moderating and conducting an interview with me, followed by questions from the audience, which included media practitioners, artists, architects and corporate communication types.

Our discussion centered on the media today, the role of print and, of course, the specifics of the book and all about mobile storytelling.

Take a look at some of the moments of the party here:

A day of banner headlines on front pages of US newspapers

Americans will wake up today to big banner headlines as the ones we see here from The New York Times and The Washington Post. It was a historic day Wednesday in Washington as Gordon Sondland, US Ambassador to the European Union, gave convincing testimony and stated that there was, indeed, quid pro quo, in President Trump’s dealings with the Ukraine president. Ambassador Sondland said administration officials were aware of the pressure on Ukraine for investigations that could damage President Trump’s political foes.

Mario García

Editorial consultant Mario García has advised the most important newsrooms in the world on design – and how best adapt to a digital transition. More than 700 publications, from The Wall Street Journal to the South China Morning Post, have received his strategic steer. Other than being an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of Journalism, he also runs his own consultancy firm: García Media. Nowadays his speciality is how digital devices influence narrative structure and consumption; his latest book, The Story, was written specifically to be read on a phone. Here, though, he confesses to a few analogue pleasures.

The newspaper remains the most powerful source of storytelling on the planet. But technology threatens its very existence. To survive, the Editor must transform, adapt, and manage the newsroom in a new way. Order The Story by Mario Garcia, chief strategist for the redesign of over 700 newspapers around the world.
