It is my Columbia students’ first assignment to write/edit/design a story specifically conceptualized for mobile consumption.
First test for such a story: how effective is the first screen in attracting and retaining readers. Remember, most readers who read on mobile devices are impatient and always on the lookout for interesting content.
That first screen is key to accomplish the goal of making the reader who is passing through want to read your story.
What better way to test the seductive power of your story than by creating a first screen design that blends a good headline with a vibrant visual.
And decide which of these stories you would like to continue reading!
These are interesting design solutions for stories about the impact of billionaires running in the 2020 US Presidential Election. I like the ‘type attack’ on the opening page of this Sunday, Feb. 23, edition of The New York Times.
A good read to start the year 2020: The full trilogy of The Story now available–3 books to guide you through a mobile first strategy. Whether you’re a reporter, editor, designer, publisher, corporate communicator, The Story is for you! https://amazon
