Spiegel Daily: the German magazine’s new product

It’s only online. It’s an evening publication. It is not free. It has a heavy social media component.

Here is a new product from the iconic weekly German magazine, Spiegel. The new product, Spiegel Daily, is available online and it costs a small amount as follows:

The weekly pass costs €2.49 and ends automatically after one week. Spiegel Online subscribers can access the daily for free, while print subscribers have to pay €0.50 per week for a digital upgrade to access it.

The logo is red, and the design is clean, well organized and inviting.  The site is easy to navigate as it includes six basic categories: News, Opinion, Stories, Social, Panorama and My Evening.

It is interesting that the Daily is published at 5 each afternoon, the equivalent of an “evening” newspaper. “

One of the sections is devoted to social media exclusively.

Another section is about “My Evening”–with tips for what to do, what to watch on TV.
