Happy to see that one of the new products coming out of The Washington Post’s kitchen is Post Opinión, a a page that will feature original Spanish-language commentary from Mexico, the United States and throughout the Spanish-speaking world.
As a Spanish speaker, it is always great news to see that important media outlets such as The Post give Spanish the attention and importance it deserves as the second most relevant language in the United States. I often turn to Spain’s El Pais, or Argenitna’s La Nacion when I want to read serious, authoritative commentary in Spanish. I will continue to do so, but it is gratifying to know that now I also come to Post Opinión, with opinions that will hit closer to home, where some 54 million of us speak Spanish, in addition to English.
Post Opinióc arries the same look & feel as The Post’s website, making it familiar to those who already subscribe and read the English version.

Led by a team of editors based in Mexico City and Washington, Post Opinión will publish original columns and essays about the most relevant news and issues affecting Latin America, Spain, the United States and the rest of the world. We also intend to highlight stories that demand more attention than they usually receive — such as the impact of environmental destruction, gender discrimination, corruption and violence — explained by writers in the region who are witnessing these issues firsthand. Our hope is that Post Opinión’s readers will find a range of thoughtful, independent commentary that initiates and informs important debates.
