There is no question about the value of newsletters to attract readers to our content.
I enjoy my membership to several e-newsletters delivered to my email and/or mobile devices. Here is my chance to be part of a publication’s curated content on a topic of interest to me, such as running, theater, cooking, technology and travel. I also receive one about journalism in Latin America.
While I admit that it is not always that I find something that takes me from the headline to the article, just reading the newsletter offers me a window into what is happening in a specific field of interest.
That is why I applaud The New York Times on its latest newsletter product, one devoted entirely to summer activities and places to visit in New York during the warm season.
According to the Times:
Each newsletter will consist of two itineraries. One itinerary will provide ideas for a date night or an outing with friends. The other itinerary will offer great activities for entertaining kids and out-of-town guests like Mom and Dad. We won’t forget to review the best places nearby for food and drink. And we don’t plan to stick to Manhattan or Brooklyn.
