Those newsletters in your mailbox…

There are some that I welcome. Others take a while to make them part of our routine—and often we don’t.

As I prepare for a lecture about newsletters for my Columbia University class next Monday, I have asked some of my smart, well informed and news savvy friends for the name of their favorite newsletters, the ones they don’t ever skip as their day starts.

The results of my informal survey are interesting: their favorites are my favorites in almost every case, but I have also discovered some that are quirky, interesting and worth taking a look at.

Everyone loves these

Almost everyone on my list of about a dozen friends contacted had these as newsletters that they simply can’t live without:

The New York Times

CNN”s Reliable Sources

The Washington Post

Axios

The more local/regional one

The Los Angeles Times

Two I never miss

The New Yorker

By the way, The New Yorker is now introducing a newsletter devoted to the Global Crisis.

Quartz

One that takes user’s time into account

The Economist

One I could get used to….

Wake-Up Call with Katie Couric

Two interesting ones I had never heard about

QZY

No Mercy/No Malice
