Love this new piece published by The New York Times using the linear approach to visual storytelling, where one blends the narrative and the visual assets.
This example shows that one can approach stories visually whether they cover serious topics, or, as in this case, a feature written in the first person.
Let’s look at the story here;
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2017/06/09/nyregion/raising-pigeons-new-york-city.html?_r=0
Notice that, unlike most lineally told stories which run vertically, here the text of the narrative appears on the left and the corresponding illustration on the right.
