In Dubai, the Khaleej Times continues to showcase the power of print design. Notice the playful page one promo unit as lead visual, the migration of mobile photo ideas to print, and the impact of a full page in depth report. Doing print happily and effectively is goal of our design for this project.
It is fascinating to find myself fluctuating between the worlds of mobile and print design simultaneously, testimony to the fact that in today’s media landscape one size does not fit all, and we now have the technology to support the best visual storytelling. I find myself analyzing how mobile/digital visual concepts can migrate to print. These are the best times to practice our craft!

This print design rethinking–carried out as a collaboration with my team at Garcia Media, senior art directors Paula Ripoll and Rodrigo Fino along with Khaleej Times’ talented design director, Raja Choudhury, but also with a year-long project led by editor-in-chief Vinay Kamat that aims at a total transformation for how the Khaleej Times (KT) approaches content flow in a multi-platform environment.
Be on the lookout for more of the transformational elements of this project as the Khaleej Times continues to introduce them in the weeks and months ahead.
