It’s the Monocle printed newspaper again

It’s August and just as sure as there will be hot days and the so called dog days of August, there is also going to be printed copies of the Monocle Weekly at selected beaches in Europe.

It’s now a ritual, getting your Monocle printed newspaper: the Monocle Summer Weekly.

For four weeks this August Monocle Summer Weekly will deliver 48 pages of global news, comment and reportage, plus coverage of art, business and design reporting.

The weekly is printed in Italy and will be published Aug. 8, 15, 22 and 29.

The Summer Weekly will be staffed by Monocle writers and editors , its existing correspondents, and other freelance writers and designers. A staffer on the radio side will also be involved in planning for the print weekly.

This is definitely a lean back plus publication, aimed at people on vacation with more leisure time to spend. That’s why the summer weekly will not only be reacting to news, but also experimenting with articles longer than even those in its monthly print issue (as long as 2,000 to 3,000 words).
