I have always enjoyed the innovative Swedish daily Dagens Nyheter. In fact, I had the honor of working with the DN team a few years ago when Joachim Berner was its editor in chief. We did a refresh of the design of DN at the time and I worked closely with the art director and designers to give the paper a fresh look, as well as for its supplements.
Now I read about the Dagens Nyheter approach to paywalls, which I also find quite refreshing. It offers options, which is what it is all about with monetizing efforts. One size does not fit all, and neither does only one option. I recommend to my clients that they consider various possibilities, since not two groups of readers are the same.
That is why I was interested in this piece that tells us that Dagens Nyheter offers three paywall options as follows:
These are good models for publishers to look at. Again, the Scandinavian newspapers continue to be at the top of innovation.
