How the impeachment inquiry plays on Page 1

Here is a sampling of US newspapers, big and small, reporting the big news of the week.

This is the weekend edition of TheMarioBlog and will be updated as needed. The next blog post is Monday, September 30.

Just as I have done with websites, now I turn my attention to how the front pages of US newspapers have reported the news that the House has opened an impeachment inquiry of President Trump, following the controversial phone call he had with Volodymyr Zelensky the president of the Ukraine.

This is a story that will continue to dominate the news, but I was fascinated by the number of newspapers that led with the story. Newspapers both big and small, regional and metropolitan. The two protagonists of the story appeared on the front page, either President Trump, or Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House.

Here is the sampling! If I missed your page just send it to me at mario@garciamedia.com

THE INTERROGATOR / EDITION 30

Mario García

Editorial consultant Mario García has advised the most important newsrooms in the world on design – and how best adapt to a digital transition. More than 700 publications, from The Wall Street Journal to the South China Morning Post, have received his strategic steer. Other than being an adjunct professor at Columbia University’s School of Journalism, he also runs his own consultancy firm: García Media. Nowadays his speciality is how digital devices influence narrative structure and consumption; his latest book, The Story, was written specifically to be read on a phone. Here, though, he confesses to a few analogue pleasures.
