There is not much to say here, just look at the video and you, too, will agree that Honda deserved the top award for its innovative ad, which also tells a magnificent story in a model way.
Those who follow the world of automotive advertising know that Honda has the best ads in the business, and this one probably exceeds beyond expectations.
In the ad, you see thousands of hand-drawn and colored illustrations that tell the story of Honda in an engaging and extremely visual way.
Honda even got an Oscar-nominated stop-motion animator to shoot Paper, and you can see a video about the magnificent making of Paper, here:

Creativity and innovation are always worth looking at and dissecting, even if , as in this case, this is not necessarily related to the type of storytelling we do everyday. However, as I tell my Columbia students, these are the best sources of inspiration. We, too, are in the storytelling business, and the more visual, the better. This Honda award-winning ad shows that a story that could have been predictable and even boring, has captured our attention beyond that of the product itself. We get engaged visually, and then our brains respond.
How I wish more of us would strive for this level of creativity even in the simplest of stories we tell everyday.
My students will for sure be required to look at this ad.
