Financial newspapers and Garcia Media continue to have a special relationship.
After having successfully completed the major redesigns of
two of the world’s most prestigious economic news dailies—The Wall Street
Journal (including all international editions), and Germany’s Handelsblatt, the financial daily of the Netherlands, Het Financieele Dagblad, published in Amsterdam now displays a new design.
This project began when the FD’s new publisher, Philip Alberdingk-Thijm ,
contacted Mario Garcia Sr. to bring some better visual elements and
navigation to the newspaper. Working with the editor in chief, Fred Bakker, and art director, Rob Heideman, Mario conducted various sessions to design the basic concept, then continued to visit with the principals to establish the design that is now in place.
Readers will see a full vertical navigator on page one, with additional
navigation aids on inside sections, more references to Internet elements,
and a new color palette.
