As if the general news was not bad enough—–the constant flow of panic-inducing drama with the coronavirus, the daily avalanche of Trump Tweets, the sagas of the chaotic 2020 Democratic Primaries, not to mention global warming disasters, and tornados—–the media news also creates stress.
Take a look at these three stories:
The news agency Australian Associated Press will close in June after major shareholders Nine Entertainment and News Corp Australia said the 85-year-old institution was unsustainable.
The sports departments at the the Advocate-Messenger, Jessamine Journal, Interior Journal and Winchester Sun were eliminated. All are owned by the same company, Boone Newspapers, Inc.
New York Times Co. warned that advertising bookings are slowing down as coronavirus makes companies more cautious, a message that sent publishing-industry stocks sliding on Monday.
How can newspapers simply eliminate the sports department? I would have never imagined that would be a section that would go away.
I am an optimist and I know that there’ll be good news both in the general and media categories, but it may not be any time soon.
