TAKEAWAY: What can be worse than those eight months of researching, writing, designing and editing a digital book? Waiting for Apple to hit the publish button. That’s where we are right now.

My first digital book has gone to press. NO, let’s start again. Digital books don’t go to press. So, where do they go? Truly, when I finished all my other books, I would say: I have just sent the book to press.
Well, today, my copilot, Reed Reibstein, and I, let the book out of our hands——-is the Veuve Clicquot bottle handy? Reed reminds me that we should not pop the cork just yet.
Because with a digital book published via the Apple store, the book goes to Apple .
So, folks, officially, The iPad Design Lab: Storytelling in the Age of the Tablet, has gone to Apple, which means it is a step closer to being delivered to your iPad.
But we have no idea when that will be.
So now we sit in a bit of purgatory, hands folded on our laptop keyboard, the heart beating a little faster than usual, and wondering when Apple will push the button that indicates the book is ready to be downloaded by all of those who would like to get their eyes, hands and fingers into this very interactive book.
It could happen anytime right now.
I remember a similar feeling when each of my four children was about ready to arrive. Well, maybe not quite, but the feeling of excitement and anticipation for this digital baby is quite high.
You will be the first to know when the moment comes.
