And now here comes the PaperLater tempo

So you may see an article online that you may prefer to read in print, just save it for PaperLater.  What would constitute an article that one may wish to read exclusively in print? I am curious.

One of my favorite presentations is one that I have titled Two Tempos: Storytelling for the Digital Age.

In it, as some of you may know, I discuss the two tracks for presenting information today.  One is the fast track, the constant flow of information, where we throw “raw” meat to the hungry lions out there; the other one is the curated track, where we get more selective and pick items of interest to a specific audience at a given time, and put it forth on mobile devices.

Now, here comes a track I had not thought about it.

Available only in the UK at the moment, PaperLater is a service that lets you save the good stuff from around the web and enjoy it in a newspaper made just for you. When you find yourself on something you’d prefer to read in print, just press the ‘Save for PaperLater’ button in your browser, and we’ll do the rest.

It’s only available in the UK for now, but if you’re in another country, and interested, just put your email down and you will be kept updated when it comes to your country.

While this reminds me somewhat of The Guardian's #Open001. This one is a PRINTED newspaper that knows what stories you share! Algorithms are  based on what your social-sharing activity.

I just wonder about one sentence in the blog explaining PaperLater.

That sentence reads:

When you find yourself on something you’d prefer to read in print…..

Well, what determines that we would like to read a certain story in print as opposed to digitally? Is it because we are more likely to be in a lean back mode? But, heck, we can lie down and read on the iPad, as I do nightly. More and more, we find people reading longer pieces on their smartphones.

As much as I like new print products emerging, I just wonder about that little detail.

Perhaps you chime in with your comments on this, please. What article have you seen recently that you thought would be better suited to read in print?

Waiting to hear.

But, of course, we wish PaperLater much success.
