This is the weekend edition of TheMarioBlog and will be updated as needed. The next blog post is Monday, January 10.
Used to be that the so called “9-11” story structure—the one where the headline is big, in all caps usually and spread across the wide canvas of the screen or page, would appear perhaps once a year, if at all.
In today’s turbulent news cycles, we see those big headlines more often, and so was the case in the last 24 hours as the Senate acquitted President Donald John Trump ending his controversial impeachment trial.
Let’s take a look at how some newspapers covered the major historical event—-only three US Presidents have been impeached, all acquitted. This one had a particularly interesting last minute twist, when Senator Mitt Romney parted with his Republican Party to vote in favor of acquitting President Trump, the first time that a Senator has voted against a President in his own party. Lots of coverage of that too!
Take a look!
