I don’t know about you, but it is hard to find full page movie ads in newspapers anywhere these days.
Except in The New York Times, which seems to be making it a habit to sell these mega poster like full page ads for both films and New York theater shows. The advertising department is on to something here. There is no rival for these amazing ads that look like those giant screens we see on Times Square. Well, the printed version. You can’t duplicate the impact of these ads on digital platforms, definitely not on the small screen of a smartphone.
I enjoyed seeing these ads tremendously, especially since these are all new movies, most of which I had never heard about. The way this supplement was produced, there is editorial content on the left hand side of the supplement, but all right hand pages of this 24-page special, are devoted to the full page ads.
Take a look here, although these screen shots I took do not do justice to the impact of seeing the ads while holding the supplement in your ads. You can imagine!
