Those guys at Yale University’s Yale Daily News did not do much with Lincoln’s birthday celebration. However, they did remember to honor Charles Darwin on his 200th birthday anniversary. Reed Reibstein sends us this double page, complete with an irreverently clever headline.

Although Darwin, who was born in England, never actually made it to the Yale University campus, there is a connection there, as explained in one of the stories appearing on the double page: Darwin once wrote a letter to a Yale faculty member praising him for “supporting the theory of evolution, which has appeared during the last 20 years.” The letter was dated Aug. 31, 1880 and was read publicly yesterday at a special Birthday Party for Charles Darwin.

Darwin’s birthday was celebrated worldwide, including by the Darwin Day Celebration website, which devotes itself to the scientist and to “an international recognition of science and humanity.”
