Paris Match: a good visit and big plans

It is my third time working with that iconic French magazine, Paris Match. Fantastic team, great editor in chief, and the promise of good things to come.

It is another round of meetings with the team of Paris Match, the iconic French magazine famous for its robust reportages from around the globe, its impeccable coverage of people, and the type of photo coverage that was inspired by LIFE Magazine and now reminds us of the power of print.

I am honored to have been invited, one more time, by editor in chief and friend, Olivier Royant, to take a look at Paris Match three years after our last visit.  Much has happened since 2014, but Paris Match has made tremendous progress, and it now has a Snapchat Discover edition that gets more than 600,000 daily views and brings in a youthful touch to the magazine that is synonymous with chronicling French life since 1938.

This time, we take a look at Paris Match the brand across platforms, where the magazine is already taking big strides to attract new generations, especially via its daily Snapchat Discover edition, a major display of names that the Snapchat audience recognizes, with animated videos, special use of type and color and explosions of excitement.  Under the direction of Marion Mertens, a veteran Paris Match digital editor, this Snapchat edition rocks and I urge everyone to take a look.  Here are some recent examples!

The big screen

One of my surprises this visit to Paris Match has been to be able to sample each page of the upcoming edition of the print Paris Match on a giant screen. As I told Olivier Royant , as we walked thru this week’s edition, I can imagine that a Virtual Reality magazine will start with a “contents” page that will be a giant screen like this, where you touch the page you wish to see and enter.
