It is now a yearly ritual: the showcasing of the work my students at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism have completed for their final project.
My course is Multiplatform Design & Storytelling. There are usually about 14 graduate students enrolled.
Their final project involves the creation of a linear, mobile story. Students are free to work in teams of two, or alone. Students provide me permission to publish link to their stories here.
Process: Students pitched their story by presenting a first screen for how headline and image would come together. My teaching assistant, Elizabeth Brockway, and I, coached the students on their projects over a three-week period.
My goal is to present the work of the students to the public and invite those who are interested to consider publishing/buying the stories, or contacting the students for more information or for possible hiring.
Good luck to the Class of 2021.
