TAKEAWAY: These newspapers have survived centuries, wars, revolutions and probably shake their finger at anyone that suggests that they are likely to disappear any time soon.
Berlingske of Denmark is now a main stay of my workshops.
It’s an example of a newspaper that plays the media quartet well. It explores each platform for its potential. Journalists write for a digital platform first. The final product shows it.
So what a surprise to find out that this newspaper is among several dailies listed in this fabulously illustrated blog post about newspapers that have been around for centuries. Indeed, you heard me: centuries.
Some, like Berlingske, are probably going to be around for many more centuries.
And if want to hear about the longevity of printed newspapers as a medium, then don’t miss the latest comments from Jeff Bezos, new owner of The Washington Post,
who recently told NBC News’ Kate Snow that:
“Someday The Washington Post may not have a print edition. It could be decades……I think printed newspapers on actual paper may be a luxury item. t’s sort of like, you know, people still have horses, but it’s not their primary way of commuting to the office.”
