It’s a new election website for Gatehouse Media

One can’t escape election coverage, no matter where one lies. Gatehouse Media, with over 400 newspapers across the country, has launched a website devoted entirely to Election 2016.

We at Garcia Media have been involved with the Gatehouse Media team, headed by David Arkin and Christopher Biondi, to conceptualize and to design Election 16.  The Gatehouse Media newspapers will carry the website, with the individual logo of each newspaper appearing at the top.

The homepage opens with a briefing, National and Local Reads, which cover  the best election stories of the day.

Other segments include up to the minute poll results for the candidates, along with more headlines, photo and video galleries and engagement items such as a presidential quiz, the Ticker, with the latest Tweets, as well as Commentary.

“Mario and his team put together a bright, energetic and well organized design that will allow our local newspapers to feature their content prominently while also pulling out really clickable national content. We'll be rolling out the site and working with newspapers to feature their content and promote this election destination over the coming weeks. This is one of many projects we have been working with Mario and his team on and we're excited to see such product improvements come to our newspapers, ” said David Arkin, SVP Content/Product Development at Gatehouse Media.

Working on this project for Garcia Media were  Andy Rossback,  art director, Paula Ripoll, senior art director for Garcia Media Latin America, and David Ok, designer.
