Garcia Media names Reed Reibstein Director of Product Design

A new title reflects Reed’s focus on product design as he enters his fifth year with us

This is the weekend edition of TheMarioBlog and will be updated as needed. The next blog post is Monday, August 3.

As the media industry changes, so too does the scope of what García Media does for our clients. Today, we are not only designers or redesigners in our projects. More often, we help news organizations rethink their storytelling and revenue strategies from the ground up. Both well-established and nascent brands come to us to reimagine their existing digital and print products and, more importantly, guide them in creating new ones.

Reed’s new title reflects the tasks that he has been successfully tackling for some time. He has been most effective as art director & project manager since joining us full time in 2011, but his insights on technology and strategy have led him to focus on product design in many of our projects, in addition to art direction and consulting with our team and clients on typography.

That is why we thought it appropriate to give Reed a title that best describes what he does. Specifically in the last 14 months, Reed has been a true product designer as we worked with such companies as American City Business Journals, Postmedia (Canada) and The McClatchy Company.

Reed says, “Increasingly, I think of what we do at García Media as product design, as our work with clients involves storytelling techniques, user-centered design and creating prototypes of everything from printed newspapers to mobile apps. I look forward to working on ambitious, multi-platform projects with Mario and my other talented colleagues.”

Reed’s new title becomes effective August 1.
